Description

Join Edinburgh Living History in the People’s Story as they recount stories of 18th century Edinburgh. Hear about the Porteous Riots and Lord provost Drummond warns people about the dangers of pickpockets, the insanitary conditions and the perils of gardez loo and how much he has given to the city, James Craig talks about the plans for the new town which will enable the rich to escape from the disease and poverty of the old one. Watch the history of the Old Town unfold in front of your eyes. Free and drop in activities, no need to book.

Open Streets in Edinburgh temporarily open streets to people by closing them to cars. Open Streets seeks to help to increase public exploration, use and awareness of the connected areas in the old town. We are delighted that our four Royal Mile venues are participating with a series of free lively events.
