Life, Loss, Learning and Legacy - February 2021 Event
Event Information
About this Event
''Today in 2021 the focus is still on loss of life to covid, not the loss of life to mental health and suicide. This needs to change.''
Storytellers, friends, family and those supporting individuals bereaved by suicide,
Join us at this online event as we come together to watch a set of 8 video-stories made in 2020 by storytellers from Leeds Suicide Bereavement Service (Leeds) and Kaleidoscope+ Group (Midlands) on the ‘Life, Loss, Learning and Legacy’ Project (4Ls) that share their life experiences, how they have coped with loss, and the learning that flows from these experiences.
This event will take place on Zoom, you will receive the Zoom link via email before the event.
In this event, we invite you to join us to watch these video-stories together, followed by opportunity for conversation and reflection.
The aim of this event is to raise awareness of personal stories of loss by suicide, encouraging conversations around mental health and suicide, as we reflect on the legacies of those we have lost. Through sharing these stories, we hope to reduce stigma around mental health and "by talking about mental health, hope to save future lives from being lost".
We hope this event will be of interest/benefit to:
- family and friends of storytellers
- people affected by bereavement and loss to suicide
- staff and volunteers in roles that support those affected by bereavement and suicide, for example in postvention, mental health support, bereavement support, community development, healthcare.
We really look forward to seeing you there,
