Life sciences is among the eight key areas identified by the government as crucial in driving economic growth and to do that, it is vital that organisations have the right people with the right skills in place. The North West region, including Cheshire & Warrington, is highlighted as a key hub for life sciences in the UK, with more people employed in life sciences than anywhere else outside London and the southeast/east of England. As detailed within the UK Modern Industrial Strategy, the North West is critical for the collaborative development and commercialisation of Life Sciences innovations. We must understand the skills gaps employers are facing to do this as effectively as possible to help deliver the highly skilled life sciences workforce employers need.
