About this Event
Have you ever wondered how a year on a hill farm looks? Travel through the seasons and see what tasks have to be done by Sally each month on her small farm in the Dark Peak. Follow her as she looks after her flock and find out about the conservation work she is doing, including the restoration of species rich hay meadows.
Approximate course length: 1.5 hours
This course is for:
Anyone who has a passion and an interest for the environment, and loves the Peak District National Park where the tutor is lucky enough to reside.
The course will cover:
This illustrated talk will cover:
• How the farm Sally lives on is run with the seasons
• All about the conservation work being done
• The restoration of species rich hay meadows
• The support for ground nesting birds
• What the animals get up to all year round
• The High Level Stewardship Scheme run by Natural England
• What it takes to get from farm to fork
This course will be delivered remotely via Zoom or Teams so you will be part of a live class, with a tutor, but with everyone doing the lessons at their own home.
There will be plenty of chance to ask questions.
Work outside of sessions:
This is not required, though we hope it will inspire you to have a go at dry stone walling or other conservation work!

You will need either a smart phone, tablet, laptop or other computer with internet access to do the course via a link you will be sent.
You may want a pen and paper, laptop or tablet so that you can make your own notes.

You will be sent an email at least 24 hours before your course is due to start with joining instructions.
Progression from this course:
You may wish to progress to one of the other talks or courses by Sally such as ‘A History of Dry Stone Walling’ or the ‘Virtual Lambing Experience’. Or perhaps you might want to try a Dry Stone Walling Taster course or a Dry Stone Walling qualification.
