Life with Full Attention
Overview
Mindfulness is a quality that enhances all experience, whether mundane or extraordinary. It is an ancient Buddhist wisdom that has been practised for centuries.
In this new 6 week course we will be looking at ways to enhance our mindfulness and take it from the meditation cushion into our everyday experience.
We are currently living in what has been described as an Attention Economy: whenever we use social media or the internet there are experts trying to grab our attention and direct it to their own ends. This can fill our time but we derive little real enjoyment from it.
To find real joy in our lives we need to be in a state of mind that is receptive enough, clear enough and calm enough to experience true happiness. Buddhist mindfulness practice is one route to finding and cultivating these states in ourselves and beginning to truly appreciate the life we are living.
For the course, we ask for a non-refundable deposit of £25 at the point when you book to secure your place. We suggest a total payment of £90 or a concessionary rate of £60 for the whole course. This additional cost is payable at the centre.
However, we don't want anyone to feel excluded from taking part if that is too much, so please feel free just to pay the deposit in the first instance, and you can then talk to the course leader, and agree on a reduced rate (coordinator@shrewsburybuddhistcentre.co.uk).
