Event description

Description

This year, Light Night Leeds are offering some fantastic workshops where you can make and decorate your own lantern to carry in the parade.

All you need for the workshop is yourself and your creative flare! The workshops are free and people of all ages are welcome, although children must be accompanied by an adult who is willing to help them. Workshops are facilitated by Handmade Parade – the makers of incredible bespoke lanterns, and the hosts of this years Illuminated Night Carnival Parade.

In addition to the workshop, you must be available to take part in the parade with your lantern on Thursday 5th October. Participants will gather around 6.30pm at the Town Hall to collect your lanterns, with the parade starting at 7.30pm and finishing at around 8.30pm. Further details on timings and the parade route itself will be made available closer to the time.

During the parade you will be joined by some exciting art lanterns, drummers, dancers and performers from Leeds West Indian Carnival. It’s due to be our most exciting parade to date – and will no doubt be a really unique experience.

For the workshop, please come to the Town Hall Reception to be collected and taken to the Crypt.
