Lights, 4K, Gloss, …. HOW ?
Jonathan Harrison writes: My experience as a cameraman having shot on film for many years tells me that shooting glossy images on a 4K sensor is far from the same as shooting SD or HD images. The resolution and image quality along with the huge dynamic range of these new sensors needs considerable thought and attention where lighting is concerned or you will see every nasty skin blemish, pimple, wrinkle and every stray hair going if not lit well.
This full days workshop is designed to enlighten and educate all image makers into the methods and techniques of creating Glossy Images on 4K large sensor cameras, as well as introducing them to the most up to date lighting technologies on the market. Classic and not so classic lighting techniques and concepts will be illustrated, shot, reviewed and discussed so as to allow delegates to get the most out of the day and to interact and have hands on if so desired.
There will also be a detailed look at the how, what and why of LED light and lighting technology, as this is still causing a lot of issues in the world of image making. The good the bad and down right ugly lighting tools of our industry. (Bring yours along for comparison if you dare!)
Creating you own “Film Stock” is also a big part to the secret of developing quality and compelling images and menu manipulation and camera set up will be a part of the days process leaving you with the ability to create something unique to you and able to give to any production you wish to shoot.
There may even be a beautiful model for me to photograph too!
Jonathan trained and worked as a Film Cameraman at the BBC Ealing Film Studios and has shot on many varied formats and types of programme input at the BBC, and for all major broadcasters. He is currently presenting Lighting Seminars all over the world using cutting edge, modern and Academy Award winning lighting tools, and now brings over thirty years wealth of lighting knowledge and experiences to the world of contemporary Digital Image Creation. He is an award winning and BAFTA nominated lighting cameraman currently shooting and consulting on location internationally.
