What’s The Event About?

This isn’t just a walk, it’s a chance to slow down, tune in, and see East London with fresh eyes. We’ll begin at Limehouse Basin and follow a scenic route through King Edward Memorial Park, the Thames Path, Shadwell Basin, Wapping Woods, Ornamental Canal and St Katherines Dock, before arriving at Tower Bridge.

It’s about pausing to photograph moments that speak to us: reflections in the water, textures of old brick, bridges of different shapes and sizes, trees alive with squirrels, water birds squabbling, cloudscapes, the changing of seasons and flowers blooming in unexpected corners. Along the way, we’ll capture the interplay of nature, architecture and the poetry of everyday life.

Whether you’re using a DSLR, film camera, or your phone, this walk is about noticing, community connection and kindness. Feel free to say hello to people, especially those who have come on their own or do not know anyone.

What to Expect

· A relaxed, friendly walk

· No technical skills required, just curiosity and a camera

· There may be long pauses at various points as photographers can take a while when they find shots that interest them.

· Optional hangout at a nearby café or pub after the walk, or some may wish to get sunset shots around St Katherine’s Dock and the River Thames

Photography Etiquette

As this is a photography-focused event, please be aware that you may appear in other participants’ photos, especially in wide shots or candid moments. We encourage everyone to be mindful and respectful. If you’d prefer not to be photographed, let others know, and we encourage everyone to do their best to honour that.
