Event description

Description

By kind permission of Aura-Soma, this foraging course explores meadows and woodland in the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds. Aura-Soma's farmland, located just outside the market town of Horncastle, is Demeter certified and therefore offers a wide variety of species to discover. This foraging course walk is easy to reach of Horncastle, Lincoln, Louth, Boston, Skegness, and Sleaford.

We are thrilled to be working with Aura-Soma, whose "Soil to Soul" philosophy and working closely with nature is a perfect match with our aims of teaching sustainable and ethical foraging, and encourage people to engage more with the natural world.

On this walk, you will discover how to identify some commonly growing foods to forage for, how to avoid poisonous lookalikes, and hints on where to look.

When we meet up, we will go through the basics of foraging before heading out to discover the edibles in the area.

During the walk, you will be introduced to a number of edible species, given tips on harvesting and correct identification, and given recipe ideas. You will also get to sample a range of pre-made wild food tasters and preserves along the way, which could include soups, cordials, jams, pickles, herb salts, syrups, ferments, pestos or vinegars.

Exact meeting location given a few days before event.

Unfortunately, dogs are not permitted on the course.

Participants on this course must be aged 18 years or older - sorry, no babes in arms.

Terms and conditions for course bookings can be found on www.foragingcoursecompany.co.uk
