Event description

Description

LORIC is delighted to announce the seventh of its events for female SME owners.

As part of Bishop Grosseteste University's mission to make a positive impact on the societies in which we live and work, the Lincolnshire Open Research and Innovation Centre has instigated a series of events that aim to narrow the gender gap in accessing business support in SMEs, and help female entrepreneurs grow their ventures.

Research has shown that despite women accessing only 2% of all venture investment capital, women-led businesses tend to have better return on investment, both in the short and the long terms. About 9,240 SMEs in Greater Lincolnshire are female-led, and improving the diversity of the county's business landscape will lead to a positive change that will be felt across all sectors.

Our keynote speaker is Katya Bozukova, who is a Data Analyst at LORIC. She will be talking about Family Values: How The Cyber Security Practices at Home Create Threats for the Future

The prevailing wisdom is that children are at risk online, and that, as parents, it is our jobs to teach them appropriate security practices. But is this assumption grounded in reality? Or are the cyber security practices that are currently taught at homes across the UK creating bad practices that we all carry into our work lives?

Presenting the findings of her sociological PhD work, Katya's presentation will show how the family practices on cyber security can create threats for future work. It will lay out how perceived threats and actual threats produce risk, and how the erosion of trust increases the likelihood of individuals falling pray to social engineering.

In addition to providing space for networking and ideas sharing, LORIC also has a lot of hotdesking space that is available to participants in the event for the rest of the day.

Limited onsite parking available. The building is equipped with an elevator.
