Event description

Description

LORIC is delighted to announce the tenth of its events for female SME owners.

As part of Bishop Grosseteste University's mission to make a positive impact on the societies in which we live and work, the Lincolnshire Open Research and Innovation Centre has instigated a series of events that aim to narrow the gender gap in accessing business support in SMEs, and help female entrepreneurs grow their ventures.

Research has shown that despite women accessing only 2% of all venture investment capital, women-led businesses tend to have better return on investment, both in the short and the long terms. About 9,240 SMEs in Greater Lincolnshire are female-led, and improving the diversity of the county's business landscape will lead to a positive change that will be felt across all sectors.

Our keynote speaker is Janet Hutchinson from Complete Careers.

Janet is a qualified secondary teacher and holds an MA in Career Education, Development and Guidance. She has worked in education for over 30 years, the last 14 supporting career-related learning and guidance. Janet also holds a Level 5 coaching and mentoring qualification.

Following redundancy, after more than 30 years in the Public Sector, in 2015 Janet, John, Mark and Ron formed Complete-Careers LLP to give them the opportunity to take their ideas further.

This has seen them:

  • Transform Career Mark into a Licensed Awarding Body for the national Quality in Careers Standard
  • Deliver national training for Career Leaders.
  • Continue to work locally, nationally and internationally to develop and share good practice in Career Work
  • Create Challenging and innovative resources such as Break the Mould and the Bonkers Book of Jobs
  • Deliver Accredited training programmes for careers advisers, teachers and other staff
  • Coordinate a career community network with an annual conference, regular meetings and regular news updates.
  • Set up their own office and employ staff.

Janet is now successful in the Private Sector as an active operational Partner in an LLP and Director of the Licensed Awarding Body Career Mark. In her spare time she enjoys socialising, travelling, International Rugby Union and reading.
