Extend and develop your Lindy Hop as Oxford Lindy Hoppers welcome two fantastic internationally known Lindy Hop Superheroes to Oxford. If you are an Intermediate-Advanced (Level 3) or confident Level 2 dancer, these workshops are for you!
Class one (Two Hours) - Lindcredible technique - Fundamentals to make your Lindy Hop shine!
There will be loads to discover in this fun class for both level two and level three dancers. We will be working on connection, pulse and core body movement to boost and refine your Lindy superpowers; creating that awesome relaxed elastic feeling with your partner every time.
Class two (Three Hours) - Becoming a Lindy superhero!
This session will build on the skills and techniques in the first class but can also be taken separately. To get the most from this session, you should be comfortable with combining 6 and 8 count rhythms and core moves such as the Swing Out, Lindy Turn, Lindy circle and Lindy Charleston.
We will be extending and exploring your Lindy powers to consolidate your core technique, explore different rhythms and learn some exciting moves.
There will be two workshops, and the price of all tickets includes the social with the amazing Last Chance Ragtime Band! You can buy tickets for one or a combined ticket for both workshops.
Benjamin originally hails from Melbourne, Australia, where he found swing dancing in 2006. He now lives in London; teaching, performing and travelling the world chasing Lindy Hop. Benjamin is a full time Lindy Hopper and currently runs two weekly swing venues in London, a performance troupe, and has taught in Australia, UK, Ireland, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Sweden, Belgium, Denmark, Spain, and Israel. Proud to have come from a background without professional dance training, he has placed in over 30 different competitions around the world, is a 2-time UK Lindy Hop Champion and also won the Advanced Strictly Lindy at ILHC in 2013. Benjamin’s ability to break down moves and ideas into surprisingly manageable pieces, and attention to personal detail of his students has earned him a reputation as one of the UK’s most prominent instructors. Ben loves to teach people all the things that he loves about swing, and his number one goal is always to show dancers the ways to exceed their own expectations without straying from having fun!
Lindy hop has captured Nancy's imagination for over 10 years. Originally from Toronto, Canada, Nancy leads an arts-full life. Nancy is an international award-winning lindy hop instructor and performer. She produces opera, performs burlesque internationally, fund-raises for a London-based orchestra and teaches lindy-hop and charleston for Swing Patrol London and beyond.
Nancy loves the community, spirit and magic of swing dance. Nancy has the remarkable ability to create space where students can risks, be daring in their movement and dance with abandon! Genuinely, nothing brings her greater joy then bringing people together to celebrate dance, and perhaps, to hear a cookin’ band. Nancy has competed and placed in competitions all over the world.
The workshops will be followed by a social dance from 7pm including live music from the amazing Last Chance Ragtime Band. Tickets for the social only (£10) will go on sale on 1 November 2016.
When: 19th November 2016
Where: The classes will take place at the East Oxford Primary School: Union Street (behind Cowley Road Tesco), Oxford, OX4 1JP.
