Event description

Description

In 2016 Cambridge University Library is celebrating its 600th birthday with a programme of exhibitions, events and activities for all the family. The celebrations begin with the spectacular Lines of Thought exhibition, looking at how the Library's collections have contributed to and reflect some of the ideas that have changed the world we live in.

Delve deeper into the exhibition in this half-hour tour with one of the Library's Special Collections curators. General tours giving an introduction to the whole exhibition take place on 24 March, 4 May, 11 June, 15 July and 27 September.

In addition, for an indepth look at a specific area of the exhibition, the specialist curators who selected the material will give subject tours on the following dates:

21 March: Literature

28 April: Understanding gravity

24 May: History of the University Library

25 June: Faiths

19 July: Human communication

4 August: Genetics

22 September: Understanding the human body

Please meet in the University Library Entrance Hall five minutes before the tour is due to begin. Access to the exhibition space is down a short flight of stairs; if you require level access, please email exhibitions@lib.cam.ac.uk specifying the date of your tour. Enquiries can also be sent to the same email address.

The exhibition is open to the public from 11 March to 30 September. A full website is available at https://exhibitions.lib.cam.ac.uk/linesofthought
