Event description

Description

See it : Do it workshops are different to other training sessions as we have built in time for you to work on your business.

Often, after attending a training session or workshop, you never get around to using the skills you have gained. Business gets in the way and the good intentions evaporate. When you do get around to using your new skills, you get stuck and wish you could ask questions or get help.

A See it : Do it workshop gives you space and time to avoid these problems by supporting you as you create resources for your business.

LinkedIn for Artists and Crafters

Many artists are using social media to promote their work but should this include LinkedIn?

The benefits of posting images of your work on Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram are obvious.

LinkedIn is a different type of social media with a focus on business to business connections and for artists that are serious about their work it is well worth creating a profile.

Galleries and potential buyers will check out your profile and you will be able to make connections with the art world. LinkedIn is a great place to post updates about your work, help other artists and to publish articles.

This workshop has been designed to support you in the use of LinkedIn as an artist or crafter.

See it

During this See it : Do it workshop you will be shown the fundamental features of LinkedIn.

This includes creating an account, posting updates, connecting with people, commenting on articles and much more.

In addition to exploring the features of LinkedIn, we will spend some time considering how an artist may use the site to promote their work. This includes the style of your profile, the people you connect with and the groups you may join.

To help generate ideas for your blogs we will review articles written by artists and provide you with a structure to create your summary and an article.

Making time to do it

Traditionally you receive instruction in the classroom and then have to work out how to do it on your own. When you sign up for this See it : Do it Workshop you will receive some basic instructions before the event and reminders after the workshop. Most of these resources will be short videos or links to useful information.

This is known as flipping the classroom’ and blended learning. Providing these additional resources frees up time during the workshop for you to work on your business when support is available from the facilitators.

Do it

At a See it : Do it workshop you decide what you to do, based on the needs of your business.

This may be one of the actions listed below:

  • Create your account

  • Write your summary

  • Post an update

  • Write a blog or article

  • Follow relevant groups

  • Sent invitations to people you wish to connect
