An introduction to the reduction method of lino cut and print with two colours. With Sarah Weston, Hampshire.
About this event
About the day....
This workshop will introduce the process of making 2-colour linocut prints and is aimed at those who have little or no previous lino-cutting experience.
The prints will be created by hand without a press, using the reduction method.
We hope to provide a relaxed and fun day where you will learn a new skill and take home something you feel proud enough to frame!
This workshop will be taken by our very own card designer, Sarah Weston. Sarah is an experienced printmaker, often taking her inspiration from the Test Valley, and has produced many lino-cut designs and art in other mediums.
What is covered
• Learning how to turn ideas into a design drawing appropriate for a linocut print.
• How to use tools safely to explore the textures and marks that can be created on the lino.
• Carving your design – you will create a 2-colour print, cutting the block away after each layer of colour is printed.
• How to roll and apply ink for printing – you will be able to choose from a selection of water-based inks.
• You will have access to one-to-one support throughout the day and Sarah will be able to answer questions at each stage of the process.
• You will take home finished colour prints along with a comprehensive fact sheet, so you can continue printing at home without a printing press.
