Event description
Design and print your own festive cards using the linocut printmaking process.

About this Event

Linocut is a traditional relief printing technique where a print is taken from the surface of a lino block. On this workshop you will learn how to use the tools, equipment and materials to get started in linocut. You’ll carve your own lino and use oil based inks to make an edition of unique Christmas cards to send to friends and family. You’ll be guided through the process in a step by step way and learn some tips to be able to continue printing at home.

Who is the workshop for?

This course is suitable for adults who are complete beginners or those who wish to refresh their previous skills. Those with an understanding of the process can use the day to develop their skills and gain tutor advice and guidance.

Do I need to bring anything?

Basic materials needed for the day will be provided. This will include lino, a range of ink colours and cards to print on. If you have an image, drawing or book which you’d like to take inspiration from feel free to bring it along.

Your Tutor

Bobshaped is an artist and facilitator based in West Yorkshire. Pattern, repeats, layers, colours, nature, technology, craft, packaging, architecture and process are some of the things that inform her work. Sometimes there is a bit of humour thrown in for good measure.

You can contact her at rachel@bobshaped.com see examples of her work on her website and follow her on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter as @bobshaped

Working Safely

We have made some changes to ensure everyone feels confident and safe to come and join in without fear of catching Coronavirus. Our autumn term courses will be running with fewer participants and a larger space to allow plenty of room for social distancing. We hope that being able to immerse yourself with something creative will help to restore a sense of wellbeing and hopefulness as we navigate the ‘new normal’.

If you have any concerns or specific requirements regarding attending a course please feel free to get in touch with us by emailing info@the-arthouse.org.uk.

Course Booking Terms and Conditions

Workshop and course bookings can be cancelled and refunded up until 7 days before the scheduled start date. Our workshops support the work we do as a charity, and because materials and equipment are ordered in advance, we regret that refunds cannot be offered less than 7 days before the workshop date. Please note that Eventbrite's booking fee is non-refundable.

We can offer the option to transfer to another course or transfer your ticket to a friend or relative in the event that you can’t attend due to Covid-19.

In the event that The Art House needs to cancel a workshop for any reason, for example due to tutor illness or if lockdown measures are put back in place your ticket will be refunded in full.
