Event description
Explore the traditional printmaking process of linocut on our one-day workshop.

About this event

Explore the traditional printmaking process of linocut on our one-day workshop.

Linocut is a relief printing technique where a print is taken from the surface of a lino block. In this workshop, you will learn how to use the tools, equipment and materials to get started in linocut.

You’ll carve your own lino, use oil-based inks and use our traditional Albion relief printing press to make an edition of A4 prints.

Tutor:

Bobshaped (Rachel Richardson)

Bobshaped is an artist and facilitator based in West Yorkshire. Pattern, repeats, layers, colours, nature, technology, craft, packaging and architecture are some of the things that inform her work. Sometimes there is a bit of humour thrown in for good measure.

You can find examples of her work on her website: www.bobshaped.com

Follow her on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter: @bobshaped

Who is the Workshop for?

This course is suitable for adults who are complete beginners or those who wish to refresh their previous skills. Those with an understanding of the process can use the day to develop their skills and gain tutor advice and guidance.

Do I Need to Bring Anything?

Basic materials needed for the day will be provided including lino, a range of ink colours and cartridge paper. If you have an image, drawing or book which you’d like to take inspiration from feel free to bring it along, although examples of different linocuts will be available on the day. We advise bringing an apron or old shirt with you to avoid getting mucky!
