The workshop is run by Elaine Kelly, BA Fine Art, Dip Ceramics. Experienced teacher, Helen has been working with lino for about 7 years but also dry point etching and collographs. She has exhibited in galleries across Hertfordshire and London. She takes inspiration from artist Mark Hearld and from the flora and fauna of the British countryside. In her work, Helen is interested in creating an atmosphere from either colour or form or the dramatic juxtaposition of black and white.
In this 3 hours workshop you will be making card size artworks using the art of linocut with Chine Collé. This is a technique that allows you to add colour to your prints without making another block. Using Chine Collé you are able to print on much finer, more delicate papers which are bonded onto a more sturdy paper during the printing process. You will start by developing quick sketches which will be then transferred into lino cuts starting with fine cutting techniques and exploring line, tone and texture. You will be making cards inspired by nature and the spring season in particular.
No previous experience needed. Suitable for all ability.
Our workshop can accommodate from up to 8 people.
All materials and refreshment are included.
