Description

Missed out on seeing Lion? Or perhaps want to see it again?

Join CCS on Saturday 21st October for a special screening with Adoption Q&A at Watershed, Bristol as part of National Adoption Week 2017.

About the event

CCS are hosting a special screening of Lion, preceded by a presentation and Q&A featuring a panel of people with experience of adoption – people who have been adopted, adoptive parents and professionals working in the field. A great opportunity for all those considering adoption, going through the process of adopting, or who have even made their families through adoption, to come and see the film, hear from those that know and have a drink and chat with the team at CCS.

The event will give people in the audience the opportunity to gather information and ask questions about adoption, in National Adoption Week, as well as find out more about the work of local adoption charity CCS Adoption.

Ticket price £10. All proceeds from the event will go towards CCS Adoption’s work providing lifelong support to adoptive families.

About the film

Lion tells the story of Saroo Brierley, a man who used Google Earth to reunite with his long-lost family in India. As a five year old, Brierley got lost on a train and had to survive the streets of Calcutta before ultimately being adopted by an Australian family. Despite being about intercountry adoption, this film beautifully captures the feelings, emotions and thoughts experienced by adopted people and adoptive parents worldwide, including those that live and adopt in the UK.

National Adoption Week 2017

Every year adoption agencies and local authorities around the country work together to highlight the need for more adopters of the children waiting for families. This year the spotlight is on the national shortage of adopters able to consider groups of brothers and sisters. The majority of children waiting, wait with at least one brother or sister. They have lost out on so much at this stage of their lives that being separated would be an additional hurt that no one wants to inflict.
