About this event

Join us at Assembly Roxy, Edinburgh, on 28 September 2025 for Liquid Identities, the first-of-its-kind festival in Scotland celebrating the fluid, evolving nature of East and Southeast Asian (ESEA) identities. Coinciding with UK ESEA Heritage Month, this festival highlights the richness, diversity, and creativity of Scotland-based ESEA artists across all disciplines.

Like liquid, our identities are constantly in motion — flowing, adapting, and reshaping themselves as we move through different spaces and experiences. This festival celebrates the beautiful complexity of being ESEA: code-switching between languages and cultures, navigating multiple senses of belonging, and creating new forms of identity that don’t fit traditional categories. Whether you’re part of the ESEA community, an ally, or simply interested in learning more about ESEA cultures — this festival is for you.

In August 2025, we launched a callout for creative submissions, and the festival will feature the incredible work of Scotland-based ESEA artists selected through this process. The full line-up of artists and performances will be announced closer to the festival date.
