Liquid modernity: how do you manage organisations in a fluid modern world?
Event Information
About this Event
It was the late Polish born sociologist Zygmunt Bauman that first characterised contemporary society as liquid modernity.
Professor Devendra Kodwani, Executive Dean of The Open University Business and Law Schools, suggests that the metaphor of liquid is a fitting description of the world that we currently inhabit, as the fluid nature of work in most modern organisations has disturbed predictable work cycles.
But how do you navigate a fluid work and organisational environment?
How do you lead and manage a fluid organisation?
Are management theories still relevant in a fluid modern world?
In this lecture for new and returning Business and Law students, Professor Devendra Kodwani will reflect on the challenges and opportunities that the era of liquid modernity presents for individuals.
There will also be stalls from the OU Students Association, Student Recruitment and Support Centre, Careers & Employability services and Executive Education to browse ahead of the lecture.
