Understanding NHS leadership priorities to support our local membership offer, stakeholders and the national strategic review .

About this event

The NHS North West Leadership Academy (NWLA) is hosting a series of virtual events to explore the successes, challenges and leadership priorities experienced by health and care leaders in the North West now and in the future.

Join Deborah Davis, Managing Director/Head of Leadership and Life-long Learning, to share your feedback in order to shape and anchor our leadership development strategy, ensuring an inclusive approach that makes the best of our resources. This work will support existing and emerging leaders at every level to be the best they can be as they navigate this complex, ambiguous, diverse landscape, which has some challenges but lots of opportunities in our ‘with covid’ world!

The NHS North West Leadership Academy operates as an expert commissioner in the space between local and national and we see ourselves as the translators, ensuring nationally driven initiatives are relevant to local context. Therefore, the results of these sessions will inform our local membership offer and a key part of our input to the national strategic review.

Our achievements to date have been co created with you as we adapted and remained responsive to the needs of leaders. We look forward to continuing our journey together into 2020 and beyond.

We are inviting existing and emerging health and social care leaders, including workforce and system leads, OD, Transformation, EDI, Health & Wellbeing, HR, Talent, Directors and alumni of NHS NWLA programmes amongst many others.

Joining the session

Joining instructions will be sent 48 hours before the event is about to start.

You can join Zoom via your laptop, tablet or smartphone. If you are joining by smartphone, you will need to download the free Zoom app first. You can join Zoom by telephone only but you will only be able to hear the audio (similar to a telephone conference call).

If you have never joined a Zoom call before, you might want to watch this short video before you do. You can also watch a short tutorial on connecting your audio here. If you are a first time user please email for additional support.

We have heard of instances where Zoom is firewalled for some NHS colleagues, you might need a workaround to get access. Try to click on the link in the instructions but if that doesn’t work, copy the link, go into Chrome and paste the link there. A Zoom page will appear. At the bottom will be some blue words that say “join from your browser”. You should be able to get onto Zoom from there. If you join through the browser a small amount of Zoom functionality will be limited including an inability to take part in polls or use annotation. The facilitator will provide you with instructions as to alternative means of taking part in polls or annotations as they arise. You will though, be able to take part in all the discussions, chat room and breakout rooms.

The NHS North West Leadership Academy is a members led NHS organisation that provides leadership development for the most senior leaders working in the NHS in the North West. By operating a members model we work closely with our members and stakeholders to co-design bespoke leadership development interventions that meet the needs of the system, their organisations, teams and individual leaders.

Any information you have provided to the NHS North West Leadership Academy will only be used by us, our network of NHS Leadership Academies, your organisation and providers of services and will not be disclosed unless we are obliged to or permitted by law to do so. For member organisations we record attendance information and may share these details with your organisation for reporting purposes.

We only send emails about our latest offers and relevant information on key areas such as talent management, inclusion and system leadership to enable you to book on to further offers as well as be kept up to date.
