Recording of the Listening Techniques and Questioning Approaches run on the 25th February 2016 by Anna Favalessa.
This webinar is part of the Intermediate Guidance programme which is made up of five webinars and a two day course which fit together to make a whole programme.
The first two webinars focus on communication skills and the last three look at three different career theories – Narrative Theory, Planned Happenstance and Community Interaction Theory. The two day course gives you the opportunity to put your skills and understanding of theories into practice.
Listening Techniques and Questioning Approaches webinar
As guidance professionals, we often develop a listening style that suits us and use tools that we feel most comfortable with, such as summarising or reflecting. This webinar aims to remind us of all the different tools at our disposal to see if there might be new ways we can interact with clients and be more aware of how we are listening.
The webinar will include some of the different types of listening; from empathic to reflexive that may be influencing what we actually hear when we listen to clients, as well as looking at Active Listening and the different levels of listening.
Finally we will look at powerful questioning as another way of really getting to the heart of the matter with clients.
