About this event

Arts • Literary Arts

Join us for a screening and open conversation in dialogue with Niki Kohandel’s exhibition ‘(We are writing) مينويسيم’ at LUX.

This screening programme explores how stories are carried, fractured and retold across time and space. These films linger where words fall away, where silence, rhythm and colours become a language of their own. Each work playfully engages with techniques such as in-camera exposure, masking and stop-motion and direct animation.

After the screening, Niki Kohandel, Elhum Shakerifar and Lujain Mansour will hold a space for shared reflections and conversations. As Alma Chaouachi writes, “The promise that stories circulate, that they bind us together in retelling”. This evening invites us to listen and to let stories take on new life in the sharing.

Films in the Programme:

  • ‘Anju’, Annabel Nicholson, 1970, 10 mins, 16mm*
  • ‘Palimpsest’, Sogand Bahram, 1989, 6 mins, 16mm*
  • ‘A Departure’, Niki Kohandel, 2025, 2 mins, digital
  • Beginnings, Amel Moyersoen & Niki Kohandel, 2024, 3.5 mins, digital
  • ‘bring me a thought i can act on’, Lujain Mansour, 19.5 mins, digital

*Anju and Palimpsest will be projected on 16mm prints.

Please note:

On the day of the event, the exhibition will close at 3pm to allow time for screening preparations.

The exhibition ‘(We are writing) مينويسيم’ continues until 2 November 2025.
