This CACHE endorsed short Laser course explores how best to encourage early literacy. It looks at how literacy and communication skills are central to children’s intellectual, social, and emotional development, and how the world of literacy begins at a very early age. This course is suitable for early years practitioners or parents and carers of a young child.

Learning outcomes

  • You will see how important verbal communication is to literacy skills
  • You will find out more about the key skills needed to assist children to become motivated and independent readers
  • You will learn how early literacy starts with mark marking and emergent writing, alongside drawing
  • You will discover how to support reading development

This online course is approximately 6 -10 hours of learning, you can complete the course on the day or divide your learning up into smaller amounts of study time over a few weeks. On successful completion you can download your CPD certificate.
