Little Breach Work Party
This site is owned by Butterfly Conservation and further details can be found on the Devon Branch website: https://butterfly-conservation.org/our-work/reserves/little-breach-devon
Little Breach comprises two meadows covering approximately 1.7 hectares of heathland grassland. It forms part of the Blackdown and Sampford Commons Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The site supports several notable species, including the Marbled White, Small Copper, and Cinnabar Moth.
Our work will involve cutting back vegetation using saws, scythes, tree poppers, and loppers, followed by raking and piling the debris. The vegetation to be cleared includes bracken, birch, and invasive Cotoneaster, though the latter has been partially managed through occasional efforts by Committee members.
While tools will be provided, you’re welcome to bring your own, especially in the event of a larger-than-expected turnout.
