Little literates: how do children learn to read and write and what can you do at home to help them?
This one hour session looks at early reading and writing development in children. One of the greatest pleasures as a parent is seeing your child become literate - what can be done at home (that is fun and games-based) to help your child’s literacy along? This session, led by Gabrielle Villani (a Deputy Head Teacher and new NCT mum) will cover how children may be helped with their pre-reading and writing skills before they start school. The content will appeal to parents who are interested in how literacy skills develop over time, from as early as a few months old.
Gabrielle is a Deputy Head Teacher and has been working in education for 13 years. She has been a Literacy Co-ordinator at the school where she teaches and has a Master’s in Early Literacy Intervention.
Note for attendees: please come to the parish office door (not the Rectory door) and please ring the bell clearly marked ‘Kensington Ballet’. The door will be clearly signed for the purpose of each of the NCT sessions.
