About this event

Bring your wee world changers to Little Look Club at the Hunterian Art Gallery. Little Look Club is an opportunity for children to learn and connect through art, by using their imaginations and having fun! There are no right or wrong answers and children are supported in voicing their own opinions.

At Little Look Club we'll be encountering artworks together by starting from scratch with no artistic knowledge. We'll open up space for children to be curious, building stronger connections to art and developing their confidence to interpret the world around them.

Come and explore artworks together with your wee ones and let their imaginations flow!

Suitable for primary age children with accompanying adults.

Tea and coffee will be served for adults with juice and biscuits for children.

A specific approach to looking at art, known as Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), was co developed by Abigail Housen, Harvard Cognitive Psychologist, and Philip Yenawine, Director of Education at MOMA between the years of 1988-199. This method is initiated by facilitated discussions of art images and jumpstarts a process of learning to think deeply. It enhances and encourages thinking skills, provides oral and written language literacy, visual literacy, and collaborative interactions among peers.

At the heart of the University of Glasgow since 1807, The Hunterian connects people with stories, individuals and ideas found in stunning collections of objects, belongings and artworks.

Today The Hunterian is a space for questioning and experimentation, for enjoyment and enrichment, for connection and collaboration and for reflecting on the role museums and individuals can play in furthering equity, justice and diversity in our society.

We actively work to make The Hunterian a more relevant and meaningful place – for University students and staff, for Glaswegians, for Scots and for our global visitors.
