Playtime Session Overview

Parents and carers canmake time to enjoy a relaxed playtime session which offers a gentle introduction to craft recycling. The Star Tent serves as a welcoming meeting place for parents and carers to come together with their Little Makers.

Features and Donations:

  • Handmade Cardboard Games: Donated and designed to inspire parents and spark creative ideas for at-home recycling crafts.
  • Crisp Packet Pyramid Den: A cozy, child-sized structure made from recycled crisp packets, providing a fun and eco-friendly space for children to sit and play.
  • Activity Mat Area: A large mat where children can move freely and enjoy engaging activities such as colouring, drawing, and interactive crafts.

The cost is a donation as ArtCycle C.I.C. is a non-profit Community Interest Company dedicated to reshaping hearts and minds by transforming the way we think about waste. Our mission is to inspire a more creative, conscious, and sustainable approach to everyday materials. Our team have been vetted with DBS and are First Aiders.

Frequently asked questions

Is there parking available

There is plenty of near-by council parking available with wheel-chair access. The cost for parking is £1 per hour. There is near-by drop off point, and a Artcycle ambassador will welcome and register your child.

Who are the facilitators?

The facilitators are professional graphic designers and mothers. Our volunteers are grand mothers and mothers. We all live in Portchester. Claire the owner set up a litter picking group in 2019 and decided that there was a need to educate on littering and stewarding the town in a creative way.

Do parents need to attend workshops?

The Litter Makers - parents and carers must attend. Junior Reshapers and Teen Re:Shapers sessions (from 7 years old and upwards) children can be left unattended. However, parents and carers are welcome to participate.

How long are the classes for?

Little Makers playtime session is 2 hours. The workshops for 7 years old and upwards is 3-hours.

Is food and drink provided?

We encourage children to bring their own snacks for picnic. We will supply light home-made refreshments and natural fruit cordial, only with parent consent.

How many are in a workshop?

There are 8 spaces available in the Star Tent for the Little Makers playtime sessions with seats for parents and carers. There are a maximum of 12 youngsters on the workshop sessions.

Designed for your children to create stunning crafts from rescued single-sourced materials. Since launching ArtCycleMB C.I.C in 2024, we’ve flipped the script, and turned trash into treasure. Our aim is to empower, educate, and inspire Litter Makers, Junior Reshapers and Teen Re:Shapers towards creation, stewardship and entrepreneurship in a fun, sustainable and therapeutic way. Our on-site or outreach workshops feature a unique blend of educational and interactive events designed to inspire creativity and innovation. Hands-on learning experiences to out-of-the-box ideas.
