Event Details

Eligibility

This is a half-day course for people working with children and young people in West Sussex.

This course is being delivered through a partnership between Coastal West Sussex Mind, West Sussex County Council & West Sussex CCGs.

 

Course Content

This workshop focuses on the practical ways teachers, support staff and those working with challenging behaviours can help young people build their resilience, an attribute proven to drive attainment, improved behaviour and confidence. 

Content includes practical tools and strategies developed by use of research in the following areas: 

· Meta cognition       

· Growing optimism

· Growth Mindsets

· Emotion regulation 

· The power of visualisation

 

Learning Objectives 

At the end of the training day participants will be able to: 

· Define what resilience is

· Understand options available to help young people build their resilience 

· Know how to identify and support less resilient young people

· Recognise ways of helping young people challenge negative thinking, and promote a more positive outlook

· Help young people deal with difficult situations and people

· Know the limits of own responsibility 


Getting to the Venue

The closest rail station is Littlehampton. The 700 bus stops nearby and it will be 5 mins walk from either Littlehampton rail station or Anchor Springs. There is no on-site car parking but a pay car park opposite the venue, at the back of the RNLI which will be £3.20 for up to four hours parking.

 

Timings & Breaks

The course runs from 1:30 – 4:30pm.

 

Refreshments

Tea and coffee with also be provided during the mid-afternoon break time.

 

 

Registration fee

Your £10 registration fee for this course helps towards the additional venue and refreshment costs. IT IS NON-REFUNDABLE.

 

Cancellations

Please notify us ASAP if you are unable to attend the course. As this is a funded programme our aim is to ensure all available places are taken up. Early notification may mean we can offer this space to someone on our waiting list.

We are an independent local mental health charity working in West Sussex.

We aim to promote good mental health through the provision of high quality services and through campaigning to improve services, raise awareness and understanding.

Our services support young people, adults, older adults, carers and families affected by mental health problems. We offer help and advice to people around improving their physical and mental well-being, strengthening their self-esteem and confidence, building strong relationships with family, friends and communities, getting into education, training and work and achieving their personal and social goals.

We also work actively in local communities to raise awareness about mental health and tackle the stigma and discrimination.
