Littlehampton - Autistic Spectrum Conditions (for people working with children and young people)

This is a half day course for people working with children and young people in West Sussex.
This course is being delivered through a partnership between Coastal West Sussex Mind, Grassroots Suicide Prevention, YMCA Downslink Group, Autism Sussex and West Sussex County Council.
Identifying a child or young person who may have an autistic spectrum condition
This workshop will develop the audience understanding of ASC and how the condition may impact a child or young person. The course highlights the importance of proactive strategies which address deficit skill areas, includes signposting and useful information about next steps. There will be case studies and opportunities for some hands experience.
- Identify characteristics of autism
- Raise awareness of diversity across the spectrum
- Recognise the challenges e.g. diagnosis, labelling, mental health, sensory/environmental issues
- Signposting and information sharing
Getting to the Venue
The closest rail station is Littlehampton. The 700 bus stops nearby and it will be a 5 mins walk from either Littlehampton rail station or Anchor Springs. There is no onsite car parking but a pay car pak opposite the venue, at the back of the RNLI which will be £3.20 for up to four hours parking.
Timings and breaks
The course runs from 9.30am- 12.30pm. There will be one refreshment break.
Tea and coffee will be provided.
Your £10 registration fee for this course helps towards the additional venue and refreshment costs. This is a non-refundable deposit.
Please notify us ASAP if you are unable to attend the course. As this is a funded programme our aim is to ensure all available places are taken up. Early notification may mean we can offer this space to someone on our waiting list.
