About this event
The Live Art Development Agency (LADA) and Live Art UK are delighted to invite you to the launch of Live Art Sector Research – A Report Mapping the UK Live Art Sector. An expansive and hugely significant piece of research, the report is the first ever UK-wide project about the Live Art sector since it came of age in the late twentieth century.
Please join us on Zoom on Friday 8 October at 12noon, for an online event marking the publication of the report.
The event will include a welcoming from LADA’s new Co-Directors, Barak adé Soleil and Chinasa Vivian Ezugha, who will lead a series of reflections on – and provocations for – the UK’s Live Art sector at this pivotal moment in history. Joining them will be Jennifer Cleary (Director, Combined Arts and North West, Arts Council England), Lois Keidan (LADA’s Co-Founder and former Director), Dr Elyssa Livergant and Dr Cecilia Wee (Co-Leads of the report’s research collective), and Dr Johanna Linsley (member of the research collective). Excerpts from the ‘Perspectives’ section of the report and the writing commissions that accompany it will be read by Bettina Fung, Lateisha Hanson, Vijay Patel, and others.
The event will also include a tribute by Lena Šimić to the late Tim Jeeves, member of the research collective, as well as a curated preview of the Live Art Sector Research website, a specially created online platform designed by Studio Hyte, featuring the report and specially commissioned writing and artworks.
The Live Art Sector Research is the first major mapping of the impact and influence of Live Art. The research has been commissioned by Live Art Development Agency, in partnership with Live Art UK, and undertaken in close dialogue with Arts Council England, with the aim of demonstrating and evidencing the sector’s complexity, diversity and achievements.
The research was undertaken by a team of consultants – Dr Elyssa Livergant (London) and Dr Cecilia Wee (London), working with Dr Johanna Linsley (Dundee), Dr Tim Jeeves (Liverpool) and Dr Tarek Virani (Bristol). The team were joined by Chinasa Vivian Ezugha (Hampshire) in January 2021 as part of Phase 2 of the research project.
