About this event

This will be one of the few Paediatric and adolescent Pelvic Floor and health courses to be run in the UK or Europe in 2020 and one of the 1st to be run as a live online course.

It is aimed at paediatric physiotherapists and pelvic health physiotherapists.  With a focus on external techniques, education, behaviour modification, exercise and external pelvic floor techniques this course will equip delegates to add this specialised area of pelvic health to their clinical practice.

The course will focus on Paediatric Pelvic Health : The next frontier in Pelvic Physiotherapy.

  1. Conditions that may affect the pelvic floor, diaphragm, respiratory system and musculoskeletal system leading to bowel and bladder dysfunction in the younger patient.
  2. Riak  factors in the younger  patient for urinary , bowel dysfunction or pelvic pain.
  3. Anatomy , Physiology or the developing reproductive system, urinary system and digestive systems and identifying dysfunction.
  4. Assessment and management of the younger pelvic floor patient
  5. Role of education and behaviour modification in dealing with the younger pelvic health patient and their parents or guardians.
  6. How to develop a pelvic health service or specialty in paediatrics. Who are the key players.
  7. What are some great therapist and patient resources.

Tutor: Carina Siracus PT, DPT, WCS

Carina Siracusa, PT, DPT, WCS practices with Ohio Health in Columbus, Ohio, USA where she is a pelvic floor therapist and the program coordinator for the oncology rehabilitation team.  She also works closely with the OhioHealth Neuroscience tower where she heads up the wheelchair clinic as well as the neuroincontinence program.  She served as the CAPP Pelvic Committee Chair from 2011-2015.  She has been teaching for the Section on The American Physical Therapy  Women’s Health section  for over 5 years. In 2017 she was part of the 1st Focused Symposium on Paediatric Pelvic Health at WCTP 2017 in Cape Town. Carina is one of the few pelvic health physiotherapists to specialise in both paediatrics and paediatric pelvic health giving her a unique perspective on these young patients. Carina also presented at WCPT2019 and has taught widely on this topic in USA, Europe and internationally. Her 2018 course was seen as a real watershed in pelvic health education in the UK. Several of the physios on that 2018 course have gone on to build significant children bowel and bladder services.

Gerard has run 7 Live Online Courses ranging from Male pelvic health , Breast health, Menopause , Ultrasound Imaging to Pregnancy and post natal physiotherapy and some of our out-standing course feedback can be seen on our youtube channel (see gerard greene physio )

Gerard is an active and enthusiastic Physio clinician working in his clinic in the Barefoot Yoga Studio, Harborne Birmingham where he has mentored MSc students. He is currently an Executive member of the MACP as social media secretary. He has worked as a Senior lecturer in Coventry University, since 2003 lecturing on both the undergraduate and post graduate programmes specialising in Musculoskeletal physiotherapy. Gerard is also an invited speaker to WCPT 2015 in Singapore. He has had numerous publications and invited conference presentations. Gerard has run CPD Physiotherapy Courses at prestigious organisations such as St. George’s Park Burton, The University of Ulster, West Bromwich Albion FC, The Circle Group, Ministry of Defence, Physio First, Apos Therapy, Patterson Medical, Herman & Wallace Group ( USA) and the Turkish Physiotherapy Association. In addition to teaching abroad in Jordan and Turkey he has been invited to teach in Lisbon, Portugal, Thailand and Jersey in 2015. He has also delivered Physiotherapy events for numerous NHS Trusts , PCTs, Private Clinics and Independent Hospitals. His CPD course business has quickly developed a reputation for delivering evidence Informed clinically relevant courses taught by expert clinicians. His courses cover the Physiotherapy spectrum from Musculoskeletal , Respiratory, Paediatrics, Sports Physiotherapy, Hydrotherapy, sports nutrition ,Acupuncture, Woman’s Health and Neuro Physio.He is also a keen advocate for Physios and health professionals engaging with Social Media.
