The Mayor of Bath will attend this very special event being held at BRLSI celebrating the role the City has played in literature. Jane Austen set two of her novels in Bath showing us the city in Georgian times; but she was not the only author to do so. Bath has in fact inspired poets, playwrights and novelists over several centuries until the present day. This talk presents some of the best-known works of English literature in which Bath is either the main setting or a travel destination. They provide fascinating insights on the social history of the city.
