About this event

Hobbies • Knitting

Join us on the first Thursday of every month for a hands-on workshop teaching you how to repair and extend the life of your clothes.

This month our London Repair Specialist, Ruth, will teach you two different darning techniques to repair your well-loved knitwear. Bring along a garment to repair, it could be a sock, jumper or any chunkier knitted item such as a blanket. Learn duplicate stitch, otherwise known as Swiss Darning to repair and reinforce or practice creating a woven darn, or English Square darning, to repair holes in your knitwear.

If you would like to source matching yarn to create more of an invisible mend you are welcome to, otherwise a selection of wool and cotton yarns will be available, as well as all tools.

Please note: Two researchers from the University of Exeter, in partnership with Manchester Metropolitan University, will join us to better understand repair through the workshops. No personal data will be shared.
