On Saturday 20th September 2025 Trek Therapy are thrilled to be supporting the Youth Hostels Association Festival of Walking 2025.

YHA’s Festival of Walking is an annual celebration of walking from hostels - and everyone’s invited. It takes place each autumn with a packed programme of free guided social walks starting / finishing at participating hostels throughout the festival period.

The festival will help participants learn new walking skills, boost health and wellbeing, and connect with nature, heritage and the outdoors. The festival is held annually in association with the BMC, the Ramblers, Ordnance Survey and Cotswold Outdoor with support from Sport England and Pilgrim Trust.

Starting at the YHA Liverpool Albert Dock Hostel we head to Liverpool Central Station (1.2km - 20 minute's walk)and take the short train journey to Cressington Station where we make our way to meet the Liverpool Coasatl Path and join the newly developed national trail the King Charles III English Coastal Path. It is here our walk really starts as we venture along the picturesque Liverpool waterfront proceeding north passing various city landmarks and local cultural heritage sites with stunning views overlooking the adjacent Wirral coastline.

We continue along the river Mersey passing Mariners Wharf and then onto Kings Parade before reaching the Pier Head and Liverpool's iconic three graces including the Royal Liver Building, the Cunard Building and the Port of Liverpool Building. From here we meander our way through the Royal Albert Dock before returning to the YHA Liverpool Albert Dock Hostel where our walk concludes. On completion of our walk the YHA Liverpool Albert Dock will greet and serve us with FREE refreshments incuding tea / coffee and an array cakes.

This walk has a distance of approximately 12 km and a total ascent of 29m and is graded as easy as the route follows good well defined paths and is flat throughout and will be at a comfortable pace allowing time for breaks and taking in the views. The duration of the walk is approximately 3.5 hours.

This activity will be promoting social interaction, the physical and emotional wellbeing benefits of walking in the outdoors and a therapeutic value of nature connection to anyone who would like to participate.

Trek Therapy are offering this professionally facilitated wellbeing walk as part of our wellbeing walks programme made possible through support from the Youth Hostels Association (YHA) and the National Lottery Community Fund.

The meeting point for this event will be at 09:45am at YHA Liverpool Albert Dock Hostel, 25 Tabley Street, Liverpool, L1 8EE where our Trek Therapy leaders will be waiting to greet you.
