Event description

Description

Philip Pullman lives in Oxford. Born in 1946, he travelled all over the world during his childhood before his family settled in North Wales when he was 11. After graduating from Oxford in 1968, he taught in schools and was a part-time lecturer in English at Westminster College, Oxford. He has published many books for adults and children and is best known for the His Dark Materials trilogy. Northern Lights (1995) won a Carnegie Medal, the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize, a British Book Award, and the Carnegie of Carnegies Award 2007. The Amber Spyglass (2000) was the first children's book to win the Whitbread (now the Costa) Book of the Year. The trilogy was adapted for the National Theatre by Nicholas Wright. Before La Belle Sauvage, the first part of ‘The Book of Dust’, his previous books were The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ and Grimm Tales.

Philip will be in conversation with Professor Dinah Birch talking about La Belle Sauvage: The Book of Dust Volume One
