Event description
This Halloween, Dracula rises from the grave in a Zoom play in the gothic horror tradition of Macbeth, Titus Andronicus, Hamlet, and Faust.

About this Event

Written in blank verse by playwright and Shakespearean actor Paul Jannise (MFA, PhD abd), the play tells the terrifying true story of Vlad the Impaler, and the legend of Dracula.

Presented in conjunction with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, join the world premiere of The Tragicall Historie of Dracula, performed by an international cast of professional actors on Zoom.

Vampires, spirits, and monsters run amok in the political upheaval of Eastern Europe in the late 15th century, as Vlad Dracula struggles to reclaim and maintain his throne against the might of the Ottoman Empire. Vlad and his brother Radu, heirs of a once great kingdom, fight each other and the Sultan Mehmet the Great in their efforts to restore peace and security to Wallachia. Vlad ultimately chooses hatred, violence, and vengeance, while Radu sacrifices independence for stability.

Support the Arts

Inspired by the rise of right-wing extremism in the world, and the menacing spread of the Covid pandemic, The Tragicall Historie of Dracula is a terrifying example of power and hatred running unchecked. 1/3 of all money raised in our Go Fund Me campaign is being donated to organizations fighting Hate. 1/3 is being paid directly to our cast. 1/3 will be put towards future productions from Have Bard, Will Travel.
