About this event

Science & Tech • Science

Living Proof explores a nation’s complex relationship to the global climate crisis through film and music. In this feature-length documentary from National Library of Scotland, curated footage evocatively shows how our environment has been shaped by the demand for energy, industry and growth.

The films director, Dr Emily Munro, frames post-war history through the lens of the current debate, inviting audiences on a journey to revisit the promises of the past and consider how they relate to our future on this planet. Was human-induced climate change inevitable? How can we break free from a boom-and-bust mentality? What paths should we follow to ensure a healthy and sustainable future for generations to come?

Dr Emily Munro is a curator at the National Library of Scotland, a writer and a filmmaker. Her feature documentary Living proof: A Climate Story (2021) was nominated for a FOCAL International Award and has screened widely both at home and abroad.
