About this event
Just what is a 20 Minute Neighbourhood, and can the idea benefit rural villages, like Drymen?
20 Minute Neighbourhoods are places where people can live well locally by having the majority of their daily needs met within a walk, wheel or cycle of their doorstep, with benefits to wellbeing, local economy and environment.
But what does this look like a rural Scotland, with its very different set of problems to the cities like Melbourne, Paris and Barcelona that have already adopted this model to plan places for residents instead of traffic? And how can a future Drymen Place Plan benefit from this way of thinking?
Speakers from FEL, the Drymen Community Development Trust and Coalfields Regeneration Trust will share how Place Plans can use the ideas behind 20 Minute Neighbourhoods to ensure rural communities can Live Well Locally in places that are better designed to meet their needs.
Ideas generated in this discussion will feed into the ongoing consultation ahead of the next iteration of the Drymen Place Plan. They will also help inform how the 20 Minute Neighbourhood, or Living Well Locally, approach can provide rural place plans with future priorities that have the power to enhance quality of life for residents, and add weight of evidence to the need for wider changes to rural infrastructure as Scotland aims to meet net zero target.
This event will be hosted online via Zoom and the link details will be sent to you after registering.
