Event description

Description

Have you been newly/recently diagnosed with MS?

Would you like the chance to learn new skills to help you live well with the condition?

Would you like to meet other people who have recently been diagnosed?

The MS Society is running a new course in your area and we would like you to join us!

This introductory course will be delivered over two separate sessions and will allow time for people to share their experiences and learn new skills. These will be taking place on Tuesday 14 and Tuesday 28 November 10am - 1pm, this will include a short coffee break half way through.

The course aims to support someone who has been recently diagnosed with MS to:

  • Understand what “self-management” is
  • Share your own experience of MS with others
  • Feel more confident to set and successfully achieve daily goals
  • Learn new skills to help support you to live well with MS
  • Have a better understanding of which local organisations can offer you support

There will be an opportunity to meet again with others, as well as the option of staying in touch with people online. We have developed these sessions to be flexible around your needs so you can choose what works for you!

For further information please contact Self Management Lead, Coleen Kelly, or Self Management Co-ordinator, Susi Paden on 0131 335 4050.

We are committed to developing and improving our self-management offer and we are excited to begin the development of our new Self-management Programme.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

You can find more information about the centre here their contact number is 01236 632810

There is a large car park directly outside however it can be busy as it's used by two schools also, there is more parking behind the centre which tends to be quieter. Please arrive early to get parked and give you time to walk to the room. There is accessible parking but these are on a first come first served basis. If you can be dropped off and picked up this may be easier.

Public transport is available and can be searched for at traveline

The nearest train station is Whifflet and there is a local taxi company which you can reach on 01235 752752.

What do you mean when you say "Newly/ recently diagnosed"?

We are generally aiming to support people who have been diagnosed with MS within the last 5 years with this specific course. This is an introductory course so will be introducing people to the basic concepts of self-management and skills which will help support people to live well with MS.

If you were diagnosed after this time then please do still get in touch as we would love to have a chat with you. This will help us work out if this course may be useful for you to attend or if there is something else that might be more suited to your needs.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?
