Description

Living with MS Southampton is an information day for anyone affected by MS, whether newly diagnosed, someone who has been living with MS for some time and carers, family and friends.


What are the benefits of attending?

The event provides a chance to learn more about MS. It’s also an opportunity to share information and experiences with other people affected by MS.


How much does it cost to attend?
The information day is free to attend and includes lunch and refreshments. Booking is essential to guarantee your place.

Arriving at St Mary's Stadium from City Centre
From the city centre, the easiest way to access St Mary’s Stadium is on foot. The stadium is a mile east of the city centre and around a 15-minute walk from the High Street. From Southampton Central, the walk is half an hour walking in mostly a straight line from the station.

National Rail
Southampton Central Station [SOU]
The station is located at Blechynden Terrace, Southampton SO15 1AL; 30 mins' walk from the ground. It offers the following services:


South West Trains services from London Waterloo, Weymouth, Poole, Portsmouth and Salibury
Southern Services from Brighton and London Victoria
First Great Western services from Portsmouth, Cardiff, and Brighton
CrossCountry services from Bournemouth, Manchester Piccadilly and Newcastle


Directions to ground
Head left out of the station. Follow the road up the hill, continuing straight, past the KFC on your left. Look out for the short cut on Northam Road just as you pass across the railway bridge. The pedestrian walkway crosses the railway and brings you out at the corner of the Northam Stand.


Bus
Routes 8A, 18 and 11 all pass the stadium
Arriving at St Mary's Stadium by Car


The stadium is served by the following main roads:

From North: M3; via M25, passing Winchester and Basingstoke
From East: M27;
from Portsmouth, passing Fareham
From West:
M27, M271, A33; passing Copythorne and Nursling


From City Centre
The city centre is located roughly two miles west of the stadium. The A3024 and St. Andrews Road runs from the centre of the town, around the northern side of the stadium and onto Britannia Road.


Parking
There are approx 175 car parking spaces available; please be aware that these are on a first come first served basis. Car parking is included for this event. Car parking barriers are in operation in our car parks. All guests must take a ticket upon entry which will be validated for exit prior to departure.

Cars cannot be left overnight if there is a home match the following day.


Blue Badge Bays
There are 56 marked disabled spaces - 25 in the South Car Park and 31 in the North Car Park.
The car park is on one level and there aren’t any lifts from the car park to the venue, as it is on the same level as the entrance to the venue itself.


Access to Events Reception
Upon arriving to the stadium via the main reception (located behind the Ted Bates Statue) there is a customer lift or stairs to floor one. Through the double doors and an immediate right will take you into the Mike Channon Suite.
Accessible entrance will be via lift in the main reception.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Tickets are not being issued for this event. You do not need to bring proof of your confirmation with you.


What refreshments are included?

We will provide lunch and refreshments throughout the day free of charge.


Can I bring a partner/friend/relative?

Yes of course, please make sure you have booked them a place though using this form.

What are the opening times of the event?

10am – 4.30pm. Registration from 9am. Lunch from 1 – 2pm.

When will a full programme be available?

A full programme will be available from mid-September. We will notify all booked delegates when it is confirmed.

What can I expect from LwMS Southampton?

LwMS is an information day for anyone affected by MS, whether newly diagnosed, someone who has been living with MS for some time and carers, family and friends.

Do I have to book the sessions which I would like to attend?

The format is flexible which means you don’t have to commit to the whole day, and you can choose from the range of workshops and talks. Better still it’s also an opportunity to meet new people, make a few friends.

Attendees

Is the event just for people with MS?

This event is for people living with MS, their carers, family and friends.

Is this event suitable for children and families?

We will have some family and children activities, a stadium tour and other great material to keep you entertained and informed throughout the day.

Can I book even though I don't know the name of my guests?

If you are waiting to know the name of the carer who will come with you, then yes. However if not please book again when you know the names of your guests.

Travel and accommodation

Are grants available?

We are unable to provide grants for attendees of this event.

Mobility hire

Will mobility scooters be available to hire?

Wheelchair and scooter hire will not be available at the event.
