Living with Water: Sustainable Drainage and Beyond
Tue 9 May 2017, 17:30 – 19:45 BST
Speaker: Sue Illman, Illman Young Landscape Design Ltd and former President of the Landscape Institute
Learning to manage water more sustainably has many benefits for society, not least the ability to minimise the impacts of flooding. Former president of the Landscape Institute, Sue Illman, will reflect upon a wide variety case studies from across the UK to demonstrate how we can promote better water management, through the uses of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) and the integration of planning, engineering and landscape. She will further examine the latest Government Policy, including the inconsistencies in planning law that are often barriers to achieving this goal, before demonstrating how to put policy into practice - integrating water management into wider development.
