Llamau's Sleepout 2017
Thu, 2 Nov 2017, 19:00 – Fri, 3 Nov 2017, 07:00 GMT
Join us for a truely unique fundraising event for young people experiencing homelessness in Wales.
Sleep Out is a Challenge Event - Build your own shelter and sleep outside in the cold of November. It won't be easy but there will be plenty of entertainment and refreshments to keep spirits high and we'll wake you with hot breakfast the next day!
When? Thursday 2nd November 2017 from 7pm—7am. It’s an all-nighter! (Registration Desks are open from 6pm!)
Where? We're at Cardiff City Football Stadium, Leckwith, Cardiff.
Why? Your support will help us raise vitally needed funds to enable us to continue to provide a lifeline to vulnerabel homeless young people who need our services across Wales.
What do I have to do? Before the event, we're asking you to raise money from your friends and family to complete the challenge event. On the night itself, you'll need to build your own shelter from the cardboard and plastic tarpaulin we provide you, along with any material you bring yourself. Then, swap your bed for a sleeping bag and experience a “good night’s sleep” outside in the cold November night!
How much should I raise? The minimum target is £250 per person. The sponsorship money raised is absolutely vital for us to maintain our frontline services in supporting young homeless people in Wales, giving them the practical skills they need for a brighter future. We encourage team sign ups, to make the shelter building easier and to share fundraising activity between you. A team of 4 would be expected to raise £1,000 together.
After you register on eventbrite, you'll be directed to set up a fundrasing page on EveryDayHero, a new online fundraising platform. It's the best way to raise money for Llamau - you'll be able to track your total, see how you're doing against other people and more of your money will go to support Llamau!
Llamau runs Sleep Out in Cardiff in the same month as other Sleep Out events taking place in cities around the UK by other charities who work with some of the most vulnerable young people in our society.
You will experience the discomfort of trying to sleep on a hard, cold floor during the winter.
Sleep Out is a fundraising event designed to raise awareness of homelessness and the funds to help us tackle it but Sleepout is not meant to replicate homelessness in any way.
