Local Consultation Event - North and South Lanarkshire
Event Information
About this Event
Climate change is already presenting many risks – and some opportunities – to our homes, our businesses and our way of life in the Glasgow City Region, affecting people, our landscapes, our environment and our economy. Our climate is projected to change further, despite existing efforts to reducing Scotland’s carbon emissions. We are likely to see:
These hazards could cause significant damage to the Glasgow City Region. The City Region has started to manage these climate risks but much more is required. The good news is that Climate Ready Clyde – a cross-sector initiative funded by 15 member organisations and supported by the Scottish Government – recognises these challenges and is committed to addressing them with an inclusive and fair approach. We must act fast.
Our vision: ‘A Glasgow city region that flourishes in a future climate’
To help deliver this vision Climate Ready Clyde has been preparing the region’s first Climate Adaptation Strategy. This will provide a guide to enable public and private organisations, businesses, communities and individuals to work together to build a flourishing City Region. We are now consulting on this draft and are keen to hear your views on the approach we are taking, as well as your experience of the effects of extreme weather and climate change. This essential part of the process will make the strategy stronger and ensure it belongs to us all: we need your opinion and expertise.
In support of this we are running a number of online events to raise awareness of the draft strategy and encourage people to share and submit their views. This event will:
- Outline how the consultation process is working, including how to respond and what we are consulting on;
- Give an overview of the Draft Strategy, and relevant activity in North and South Lanarkshire Council areas; and
- Provide an opportunity for you to share initial responses and reactions with the Climate Ready Clyde secretariat.
This consultation event is specifically targeted at stakeholders within North and South Lanarkshire Council areas.
We would encourage early sign up to help us target the events accordingly, and look forward to discussing the draft strategy with you.
