Have you got questions about local government reform in Oxfordshire? Are there issues and priorities you're worried will get lost in transition?
Local government knows how important the partnership work between councils and the voluntary and community sector is in Oxfordshire. The shift to unitary local government is an opportunity to be better streamlined and better joined up, but there are pitfalls to avoid as well. We're hearing many questions about funding and commissioning; the scope for new VCS roles; the impact of boundary changes; how the new councils will connect with communities, and more. This is an opportunity for you to input to the people drafting the proposals, to make sure the changes address these questions.
We've worked with the councils behind the three proposals to put together an event that brings you and them together, to have an open discussion of the opportunities and risks for the essential partnership work we do together. Councils will be represented by officers from their LGR and Communities teams. You can read about the three proposals online: three unitaries, two unitaries and one unitary.
This event gives you the best opportunity to discuss your issues and priorities with each proposal. There will be breakout rooms to discuss each proposal with its officers. You will be allocated to small groups and circulate through the breakout rooms to ensure you have an equal chance to speak to each proposal team.
