The overall aim of this course is to encourage delegates to consider how local heritage lists might be adopted effectively and efficiently. We will demonstrate how a local list can enhance an LPA’s ability to protect the historic environment by giving the planning policy context, and introducing practical management tools such as article 4 directions. By sharing examples of good practice, will also show how neighbourhood planners and community groups can successfully be involved in establishing local lists. Historic England's guidance on local lists would make worthwhile pre-course reading and can be found at https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/what-is-designation/local/local-designations/
