LOCAL HISTORY –

HISTORIC BUILDINGS AND HOW TO RESEARCH THEM

Approximate course length:

2 Hours

This course is for:

Anyone who would like to discover and know more about the historic buildings around us

The course will cover:

• Researching local buildings

• What to look for when choosing a building

• The significance of the building and those that have used it/still use it

• The reasons why people feel so protective of the history around them

This course will be delivered remotely via Zoom so you will be part of a live class, with a tutor, but with everyone doing the lessons at their own home.

You will be given the support you require for your individual development.

There are no exams or formal assessments.

There will be chance to ask questions and put what you have learned into practice.

Work outside of sessions:

This is not required, though we hope you will want to put what you have learned into practice.

Additional costs and what to prepare:

You will need either a smart phone, tablet, laptop or other computer with internet access to do the course via a link you will be sent.

You will be sent an email at least 24 hours before your Zoom/Teams course is due to start with joining instructions.

Progression from this course:

You may wish to progress to a more in-depth course that will put your newly learnt research skills to the test. Discuss your next steps with your tutor or centre staff.
