Description

What is this about?

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG, formerly DCLG) have asked iStandUK to assist them in defining data standards for Local Authorities and local communities to use when publishing Local Plans, Local Development Schemes and Neighbourhood Plans. This will enable the public and government alike to more easily access the key information contained within these planning documents. As well as producing the technical documentation to be published by DCLG, iStandUK will also work to understand the costs and benefits of data standards for local councils and will assist DCLG in envisaging how data may best be used to improve public services.

MHCLG and iStandUK have been working together to develop guidance and standards that will tell authorities all they need to know about the standards for publishing local plans and local development schemes. This event is one of two workshops that we are hosting to support authorities to publish their plans in a consistent and standardised format. In the workshop, we will:

• Hear from Government why planning documents should be published as data
• Review the proposed data standards
• Show how data from some pilot local authorities
• Examine the benefits and obstacles when publishing this information to a data standard
• Consider what further data standards could improve the Planning process

This free event has been commissioned by the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG, formerly DCLG) and is supported by iStandUK and iNetwork.
