About this event

Tim Ferrero Senor Specialist in Marine Conservation along with Ellie Parker, Marine Officer, for the Hampshire & IOW Wildlife Trust will be telling us about the nationally important seagrass meadows off our coast. Seagrass meadows are vital marine habitats supporting a vast array of marine wildlife and are an important storage for "Blue Carbon".  In the last 100 years over 90%  of our seagrass meadows have been lost. Tim and Ellie will explain the Trust's ongoing efforts to plant seeds and restore the Solent seagrass meadows to their former superb extent. They will also look at the Trust's wider marine conservation work with many partners and volunteers promoting the Trust's vision of a Wilder cleaner Solent rich in wildlife.
